My Family and I  -  Saint Lucia

With a trip my family orchestrated to Saint Lucia, I took the chance to explore and learn about its people and culture. Turns out it has some of the most beautiful mountains any island from the Caribbean can have. Most of its people talk English, although they possess a very peculiar accent. Like most Caribbean territories, Saint Lucia has a very diverse culture mixtures. All of Saint Lucia's people share African, English and French heritage. This diverse mixture of heritage is called creole, which in Spanish means "criollo". Saint Lucia isn't known for the gentleness and affection of their people, but the few I encounter with are the nicest and kindest I have ever meet.

Independence

        Most Saint Lucians are the descendants of African slaves, brought in by the British in the 19th century to work on sugar plantations. In 1959, Saint Lucia joined the West Indies Federation, under which it was proposed that the British Caribbean countries should proceed to independence as a federation. Disagreements among the larger members led to dissolution of the federation in 1962. Along with the other Windward Islands, St. Lucia became a federated state associated with the United Kingdom in 1967. Although it achieved independence in 1979, St. Lucia remains a member of the British Commonwealth.

Economical Status

        Even though Saint Lucia is a member of the British Commonwealth, they aren't even close to a reasonable economical state. Poorness is a present issue in their community, and while some, like it's governor, are enjoying are enjoying a fruitful life without having needs, others are living in houses that don't suffice for them, while working very hard to provide for their families. This is an issue that needs immediate addressing, because like you and I, they're human beings, and nowadays, if people in power have the chance to provide for their own, they shouldn't think twice on making the change.
